Who are you and what do you do?
Hi, I’m Jason Falconer. Since 2005 I’ve been working as a cycling coach / track / MTN / Road Bikeability trainer. From 2013 onwards, I’ve been freelance, using my experience and qualifications to coach others. My main coaching is now Orienteering sport; teaching navigation at speed in outdoors spaces around Dorset and beyond, for schools, activity centres and privately. I’ve been riding bikes for the past 30 years.
What bike(s) do you ride?
Currently running a Coppi Road bike, Orange ST4 MTN, and my daily ride is my work bike, a Surly Ogre, kitted out with a Rohloff hub gear and rack. Pictured from last weekends #Brotherinthewild event Brother cycles ran, in the New forest.
Favourite route to ride?
I ride everywhere for work, and I ride directionally perfect routes (see Jason’s blog for more info). I particularly like routes that are on/off trails linking the best of the Poolemouth conurbation.
What was your first bike?
Babies trike/ then Universal 5 speed racer.
Best bit of kit and why?
My Rohloff 14 speed hub gear. Always the right gear, all the time, on and off steep slopes, gravel, sand, into gear at speed.
What’s your dream bike?
Titanium Cross Bike is my next build, Lynsky or similar – watch this space.
